109-year-old blogger

The reason why I write about elderly adults is because I am taking a class called "Communication in Older People." This class is really interesting, and I recommend it to everyone who ever gets the chance to take it. Really, it has helped me get rid of a lot of stereotypes about older people.

I had actually written a paper on the 109-year-old blogger, and my professor liked it so much that she shared my paper with the entire class. Trust me, you will be inspired with this story :)

Talking about Ruth Hamilton- This woman is completely amazing!

Ruth Hamilton was born in 1898. She studied in a one room school house, and eventually became a teacher. In 1937, she even met face to face with Adolf Hitler! In her 90s, her body started becoming weaker but she was not discouraged. Instead of complaining about being weak, she spent her time writing a 500 page book about her life.

After her 100th birthday, she moved to an assisted living center. The quiet surrounding and less people to communicate made her feel very lonely. However, instead of feeling sad about this, she searched for a new purpose in life. She found a website on the internet GrowingBolder.com that celebrates aging.

Ruth started learning how to use her webcam and typing (imagine doing that after the age of 100!). Eventually, she started making inspirational video blogs. Slowly, she had internet fans who wanted to visit her and get suggestions from her on love, life and faith. She quickly became an inspirational idol to many people around the world.

Sadly, she passed away in 2008. Her final wish was that people would continue to watch her videos, and find inspiration. Ruth is considered the world's oldest blogger and the oldest person ever to be a member of a social network website.

I find this really inspiring. A truly positive and happy woman. I genuinely applaud her charisma, and her overall attitude towards life. May her soul rest in peace. <3

Watch her talk about her life and vlogs:

100-Year-Old Bride! :)

                                                    Picture from huffintonpost.com

I saw a video in my class yesterday, and it just made my day. A 100-year-old bride, Dana Jackson, got married on her birthday on February 6, 2012. I found it really sweet. Ofcourse, when we think of a 100-year-old getting married, we have mixed feelings. Why at 100? Isn't that too old?

But the lesson we can take from this bride is that it is never too late for love. And not just for love, but for anything in life. She got married to an 87-year-old man (and yes, both of them were in a wheelchair). You can watch her video and read the full story in this website: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/13/100-year-old-bride_n_1274260.html#s692149

My point is, we have various stereotypes of old people; we associate them with wrinkles, sickness, crankiness, and slowness. But just because people are old does not mean they are worthless. Dana is a sweet woman, and happily married. She has restarted her life as a married woman at 100. How many of us actually think of restarting a new life at 100? At 50? At 30? Or at this very moment?

"It is never too late to be what you might have been" -George Eliot

I am a Butterfly Admirer

I love butterflies. I love how caterpillars transform into graceful butterflies. They have strong patience, and in time, they grow wings and fly! How cool is that! :)

Today, I created a youtube video just for the sake of my love for butterflies. I found some really good pictures of different types of butterflies (Thanks to Nick Upton for the royalty free pictures!). Then I added some amazing butterfly quotes, a good music, and way to go~~ I created another video. Please check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Hn56J9x_OI&feature=g-upl&context=G227a4d4AUAAAAAAAAAA

By the way, I would also like to thank my first 3 subscribers: MPREZZIV1, JoshuaKingTV, and jlowell55. Thank you for believing in me.

Inspirational Video

After thinking and re-thinking about whether or not I should create a youtube channel, I have finally decided to give it a try. My youtube username is: beautifullifeT2. In this youtube channel, I will be creating videos that inspire people. I have always been into motivational and inspirational videos. I believe that everyone needs some kind of motivation in life to make it more meaningful. In the process of using this channel, I expect to inspire others and myself along the way.

I decided to start my channel by including someone who has been a huge inspiration in the history of mankind. Therefore, I chose Martin Luther King, Jr. Besides his birthday is January 15th (which is coming up soon), so what better way to honor him than dedicating my first youtube video to this great person!  :)

I hope to make more videos in the future.
